TACKLE FOOTBALL
The North Penn Squires Tackle program is an intramural program for 2nd through 6th Grade athletes.
Our tackle teams play in the ICFL (Inter County Football League).
Practices
Practices begin early August. Our fields are located on Hancock Road (across the street from Gwyn-Nor Elementary School).
In-Season Practices are typically Tuesday through Thursday from 6-8pm. Practice times may vary between grade levels.
Practice is paramount in our efforts to maintain the safety of all players. Please discuss with your coach if and when you will be missing practices.
Heat Acclimation
North Penn Squires Football recognizes the importance of conditioning to allow players to properly hydrate and schedule rest periods accordingly while gradually increasing intensity with respect to high temperatures in the summer months.
Heat Acclimation occurs throughout the month of August. During heat acclimation, helmets and pads are introduced to practice gradually.
Please try to plan family vacations around this time, to allow your player ample time to condition properly into full pads and intensity.
Games
Games are scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays from September through the end of October.
Games will be played either at Squires Field or at our opponent’s field in the region (typically no more than a 40 minute drive). The game schedule is typically available mid-late August.
Please be advised that there is a postseason. A playoff system is in place for grades 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th. Those games tend to run through the end of October/beginning of November.
Rules and Expectations
North Penn Squires Football adheres to USA Football guidelines.
All Players, Parents and Coaches must read, review and sign a Code of Conduct prior to the beginning of the Season. These Forms are available on the website in the Coaches Corner.
Equipment
North Penn Squires provides a multi-piece pad set for all tackle players including helmet, shoulder pads and pants which must be returned once the season ends.
All tackle players will also receive and be able to keep a game jersey personalized with their last name on the back. The only required equipment not provided by North Penn Squires are cleats, mouth piece, athletic supporter & cup. Additional equipment such as gloves are optional but not required.
Please note an equipment retainer check is held during the season. If equipment is not returned, the check is forfeited.
